Mission Statement
Near East Quarterly issues new content on-line four times per year in February, May, August and November.
The journal
- aims to bring together diverse voices from a range of backgrounds to provide detailed analysis of political, economic and cultural events taking place across the Near East region, with a focus on important currents in Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Turkey.
- seeks to reflect on the socio-cultural developments emerging in this variable context and the influence the region’s thought and art holds in the wider world.
- is dedicated to the principles of open and respectful discussion. Freedom of speech is sacrosanct in so far as the aims of any speech are civil and justified.
- does not tolerate prejudice in any form, from or towards any person or group on the pages of the web site.
- deems it absolutely imperative that readers are provided with an inclusive set of opinions and analyses from each of our chosen countries. No individual article will define the journal’s approach; its holistic output will reflect our overarching commitment to reasonable pluralism.
- is not for profit. All articles are protected by a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License. Monies provided to the functioning of the journal, beyond the personal finances of those on the board, will be made fully transparent via the website, when necessary, on a biannual basis in the month subsequent to second and fourth issues, or by direct request.
- is independent and is not affiliated with any other individual, group or institution. Each board member and contributor represents their private person only.
